Outreach

One of my goals is to get involved in original and creative projects that show how fun and attractive science can be. This is how Siderales was born, a personal outreach project that merges art and science through the use of theater as a pedagogical tool. In this sense, theater becomes an ally to encourage the scientific curiosity of the audience through play and emotions. It is a project that promotes the democratization of knowledge and the decentralization of cultural activities in Latin America.

Siderales Teatro

In 2020 I decided to mix my scientific, artistic and social concerns to create a different way to share Astronomy, which later became my crowning achievement: an outreach theatre for children.  I assembled the interdisciplinary theatre company “Siderales Teatro”  and I managed the entire project, including fundraising, supervising the science and script of the theatre play, managing the social media and preparing  the press releases. My official roles were project manager, producer and scientific supervisor. I invite you to see the Spanish portfolio on the left, where the trajectory, impact and review of the play, A Journey to the Universe of the Little Prince (with beautiful photos of the whole project!) are collected.

After finishing my PhD and facing endless doubts about how to continue my professional career, I felt the need to travel like never before: in a van!  My mission: to bring knowledge and fascination about astronomy through an itinerant project that merges science, theater and community exchange.

The idea was to travel around Latin America, visiting schools and cultural places to promote the exploration of the Universe and do my bit to create a better world. In order to reach communities with fewer economic resources, this project has an approach of barter, voluntary contribution and donations, through which networks of collaboration and mutual support are built.

This project won a fellowship grant to partially fund gasoline with the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD, https://www.astro4dev.org/). Their slogan, Astronomy for a Better World! Grateful for the trust and this incredible opportunity. On the right you can see the final portfolio of the project,  take a look! ;)
